Online Security

Online security is useful in many ways:
1.) Protects you from viruses.
2.) Protects you from getting spammed.
3.) keeps you're information protected.
The way it guides my decisions is:
1.) I'll be more cautious on what I click on.
2.) I won't fall for any of the advertisements.

Meanings, Signs and Symbols

Humans are relatively similar to animals because we all descended from a common ancestor. Why were humans given the ability to think and reason? How come no other animal on the planet has the same ability? Are humans able to acquire the same strength as chimpanzees and if not, why?

Hack to School Night

1.) The purpose of this class is to help us gain knowledge and to become a better writer and/or reader. In other words to improve our skills. Also this class prepares us for college and life.
2.) One thing that I have read and written about in Dr. Preston's class is the right to your own opinion. It's true about how you are entitled to their opinion, but just because they have their mind set on their opinion, it doesn't mean they shouldn't take anyone elses opinion for consideration.
3.) So far the easiest thing we've done was to memorize the ''Richard Cory'' poem, by Edwin Arlington Robinson. The hardest thing we've done in this class was the first vocabulary quiz because in the order tp complete we had to know the words specifically by their definition.
4.)My goals for next grading period is to earn a GPA of 4.0.
5.) A socratic seminar is where a group of people gather and discuss about a topic. A blog is a device that we use to post our work, ideas, etc. It's also a way to communicate with our peers and Dr. Preston.

Observations:
1. Goodman Brown is more concerned with his wifes safety than his own.

2.) Why does the old man have a staff with a serpent on it, what does it represent?

Earth on Turtles Back

1.) The authors tone in this myth, in my opinion, is that he describes the new world he has created as a beautiful but at the same time kind of plain because it's mostly an ocean.
2.) I think that the mood in this story is kind of a funny mood because the author has an incredible imagination to create a myth like that. It'd be a really good child's book.

Socratic Seminar

Today in society people argue all the time. Now what they're arguing about can vary in many different ways. Some argue because they have a different believe on a topic and they try to convince another person that their belief is right. In some cases people argue because they absolutely hate each other. The winner is determined when someone convinces the other that their arguement is right. A past experience that I had was when I was arguing with my mom and I lost the arguement even though I was correct, because she won when she said "give me your phone, you're grounded for month. I immediately was quiet and the arguement was over.

Assignment #1 First Week

The past week in Dr. Preston's class was easily doable if you're familiar with technology and creating a blog, but for students like myself who never really use the Internet/technology it was challenging. Throughout the week Dr. Preston would help us understand how to create a blog as well as how to use it. I felt strong in the memorizing category. Memorizing the poem "Richard Cory", by Edwin Arlington Robinson, in my opinion was a very simple task. The poem can easily be memorized in five minutes. Edwin Arlington Robinson describes Richard Cory as APOTHEOSIS.in other words he was known as a person of perfection, but in reality he was a character who suffered internally. Kind of like the time when I thought a piece of jewelry was really nice because it was expensive but soon after I bought it I discovered that it was a cheap BUABLE.
A challenge for me was when Dr. Preston ADUMBRATELY desscribed the course of English 3A to the class. Although the class will be very challenging, if I'm ASCETIC with my work I should be able to overcome these challenges with no problems. My strategy has never been to be BEGUILE, I like to get credit for my true work and effort. In this class I plan to BURGEON on my vocabulary. In the form of learning a teacher is a complement to students. If Dr. Preston wants to teach the class in a different method I can't be CONTUMACIOUS to the method just because it's different than the times I was taught before. Hopefully this class will help me become a better person and not a CURMUDGEON person. All I ask from Dr. Preston is to be DIDACTIC when When presenting us with new lessons/teachings.

Vocabulary Quiz #1 Redux

The past week in Dr. Preston's class was easily doable if you're familiar with technology and creating a blog, but for students, like myself, who don't normally use the internet/technology it's challenging to understand what the teacher assigns when internet access is needed. Throughout the week Dr. Preston  would help us understand how to create a blog as well as how to use it. I felt like the memorizing category was one of my strongest categories. Memorizing the poem "Richard Cory," by Edwin Arlington Robinson, in my opinion it was a very simple task. The poem can easily be memorized in five minutes. Edwin Arlington Robinson describes Richard Cory as APOTHEOSIS. In other words he was perfect, but later on at the end of the poem we find out that he wasn't perfect after all. Kind of like the time when I thought a piece of jewelry was really nice because it was expensive but soon after I bought it I discovered that is was a cheap BAUBLE.
