Young Goodman Brown ''Symbols''

1.) Young Goodman Brown's wife, known as Faith, with her ribbons on her cap symbolizes good/positive in the story.
2.) When Goodman Brown compares Faith as an angel symbolizes good and purity.
3.) When the author said '' He had taken a dreary road, darkened by all the gloomiest trees in the forest'' he symbolizes evil/bad influences or negetivity.
4.) When the author states '' It was deep dusk in the forest, and deepest in that part of it where these two were journeying'' it symbolizes that something was wrong in the direction he was headed.
5.) The serpent on the old man's staff symbolizes evil/negativity.
6.) The old man symbolizes the devil himself!
7.) When the old man tries to convince Goodman Brown to continue on the path it symbolizes that he wants Goodman Brown to do evil.
8.) When the author says '' We are a people of prayer, and good work to boot, and abide no suck wickedness'' that the old man is trying to convince him to do evil.
9.) The old lady/Goodman Brown's old tutor symbolized a witch.
10.) The story itself symbolizes a message that has to do with the struggle of good and evil.
